Red Dead Redemption 2 Almost Confirmed at E3 2016 Next Month; Release Date Likely to be Next Year

The official unveiling of the open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2,” the sequel to the 2010 hit video game, is almost confirmed to happen at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 to be held next month in Los Angeles.

However, developer Rockstar Games seems to be under pressure at the moment, not from anything, but from the previous performance of “Red Dead Redemption” when it was released on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 almost six years ago.

Apparently, “Red Dead Redemption” sold over 14 million copies since it was unveiled in 2010, which made it officially as one of the greatest video games of all time and easily ranks as one of the finest gaming experiences of the last generation, notes Alphr.

With that in mind, Rockstar needs to be sure that when “Red Dead Redemption 2” comes out in the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 after its launching, it needs to be equally successful as its predecessor, if not better.

And the only way that Rockstar can do that is if it considers all the inputs of the gamers after it launches the game at the E3 2016 and perhaps allow players to try out a prepared gameplay or walkthrough of “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

That being said, the reports are now saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will likely be released next year and not later this year because Rockstar would prefer to play it on the safe side. The developer does not want to toy with success especially for a video game that is being groomed to become its next permanent franchise.

Making up for the delay

As if to make up for the likely delay of the release of “Red Dead Redemption 2” on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, Rockstar Games is said to be looking at unveiling the original game on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 later this year.

It could be recalled that Rockstar has not yet officially unraveled versions of “Red Dead Redemption” on the latest generation gaming consoles so doing so would make it the perfect prelude to the eventual arrival of “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

Interestingly, there are also reports lately saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will not be unveiled at the E3 2016 next month because Rockstar believes that the event is already losing audience every year, notes News Every Day.

According to the outlet, there will be no news about the anticipated video game at the E3 2016 so fans will have to wait until 2017 for any confirmed announcement about the game.

However, all these remain as speculations and the upcoming E3 2016 would surely provide the right answer on whether “Red Dead Redemption 2” will come out officially or not.

Contrary to earlier reports

The latest rumors about “Red Dead Redemption 2” not showing up at the E3 2016 are actually contrary to previous speculations just last month that Rockstar Games will be launching “Red Dead Redemption 2” at the E3 2016.

The reports also said then that subsequently, the game shall be released on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC either later this year or early next year.

Those rumors actually top off the other speculations regarding the next iteration of the “Red Dead Redemption” franchise which are mostly focused on the game’s setting, plotline, and characters.

Red Dead Redemption 2

However, there are now reports saying that a sneak peek of the video game shall soon be released by Rockstar Games, which could actually happen either before or during the E3 2016.

The revelation was actually made by known tipster Fraghero who claimed that his source was actually a former employee of Rockstar Games.

Fraghero added that according to the former employee of the game developer, Rockstar Games has been working on “Red Dead Redemption 2” for over four years now.
