2015 E3 Highlights: Best of Nintendo and Multi-platformers

Now that you’ve seen what Microsoft and Sony have in store for us this year, let’s take a gander at some of the cool stuff Nintendo and the other guys and gals had to show off at this years E3!

Star Fox Zero – Wii U

This is Nintendo’s big game for the Wii U for 2015 and boy did it raise hopes and anticipation! t’s obvious the original Star Fox as well as Star Fox 64 are heavy inspirations for this game. As is the unreleased Super Nintendo game, Star Fox 2. As in Star Fox Zero your vehicle can transform from something that fly’s to something that can walk along the ground. This was something that was intended to be part of Star Fox 2 back on the SNES. The Wii U has a very strong library of games and I am sure this one will fit right in there with the best of them.

Zelda Tri-Force Heroes – Nintendo 3DS

As much as I wanted to see the Wii U Zelda game, at least there was a new Zelda game for 3DS shown at E3. Zelda Tri-Force Heroes really took me by surprise. With Majoras Mask and Link Between Worlds I did not think we would see a new 3DS Zelda game. Tri-Force Heroes is a multi-player game similar to what we have had with the Four Swords games. This time though you can customize your Link to really make him more of an individual. More Zelda is always a good thing in my book.

Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival – Nintendo Wii U

I was asking a buddy just the other day where Animal Crossing on the Wii U was and now we know. Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival is a fun looking, Mario Party style game where you pick your favorite character (by the way I am telling you now, I will never play as that SOB Tom Nook) and play with or against your friends. Nook is one of games biggest villains as he controls the world of Animal Crossing through debt. Anyway, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival is all about playing fun little games and taking out a second mortgage on your house to buy all the accompanying Amiibo’s. As a fan of the Mario Party series I am very interested to see how this one develops.

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash – Nintendo Wii U

Mario sports games don’t get the love they deserve and despite their being a number of them on the Wii, the Wii U has had even less. Well, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash is here to change that. The Mario Tennis series has been a lot of fun for over a decade now and this new version on the Wii U’s gimmick is that the characters can turn into these giant sized versions of themselves. I am sure this will be a lot of fun and have a whole host of cool mini games to play. It will be interesting to see if they allow you to use motion controls with the Wii Remote like Mario Tennis on the Wii did.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam – 3DS

I think that the Paper Mario/Mario RPG series of games is one of the best set of RPG’s you can play. Sticker Star was all kinds of fun when it was released a little while back and now Nintendo have a lot more Paper Mario action for us. What seems really cool is how we can play as the Paper Mario Bros. and the normal ones as well. I am sure we can expect a charming and amusing story to go along with all the action as well. While I am very interested in this game I would have loved to have seen a new Paper Mario game released for the Wii U instead of the 3DS again.

Star Wars Battlefront – Multi-Platform

Probably one of, if not the biggest ‘WOW’ that came from my mouth was after seeing this game at E3. I was already very interested in Star Wars Battlefront and as much as I wished for some kind of huge, single player campaign, I am still pretty happy with what EA showed us. The trailer was all about one thing in my mind and that was Luke Skywalker getting ready to square off against Darth Vader on Hoth, I don’t care if it is not “cannon” it was freaking awesome to see and just got me and many other people even more hyped for this game.

Fallout 4 – Multi-Platform

Fallout is back and is going to offer us more post-apocalyptic fun as we walk around Boston! Not much was said as to what to expect from the story, but the past Fallout games have always been very well written and voice acted, so I am sure we can expect a great story. While this is going to be on both PlayStation 4 as well as Xbox One, it was the Xbox version of Fallout 4 that got all the attention. I have no freaking clue how this is going to work, but the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 will support mods AND will come packaged with Fallout 3!

Transformers Devastation – Multi-Platform

This one may seem an odd choice, but I am a huge, and I mean huge Transformers fan so when I heard Platinum Games was making a Transformers game, I was already freaking sold! Not a lot was revealed about this game, but so far we know that you have a choice of five Autobots (I am sure more will be announced) and that there are around 30 or so Decepticons for you to battle. The cell-shaded graphics look amazing and let me tell you guys that this was actually one of my favorite games of the whole show.

Mass Effect: Andromeda – Multi-Platform

Man this was a teaser trailer in every sense of the word! We know pretty much nothing about this game except that it looks gorgeous, you visit alien planets, melee combat has had some major work done on it, and that is pretty much it. Still, this is Mass Effect we are talking about and this short teaser was enough to get many people very excited.

Kingdom Hearts 3 – Multi-Platform

It seems like this game has been in development forever – like 10+ years! Sure we have had portable Kingdom Hearts games, but it has been ten years since Kingdom Hearts 2. Square Enix did not give a whole lot away. We know that you can go to the world of Tangled thanks to the new trailer, but not a whole lot else was revealed. Still it was just really cool to see this game in action and I just wish they would hurry up and release it already.
